Unboxing Ipsy Review: October 2016

Ipsy‘s theme this month was Black Magic. They focused on the transformational powers of makeup to change up your look with ease, whether that be creating a gorgeous glowy complexion on a dull skinned day or experimenting with unique eye shadow colors that you’ve never used before.

Ipsy teamed up with Valfre this October to create the cutest, spookiest bag of all time. A little gimmicky, sure, but as a Halloween-enthusiast, I loved it.

Now, onto the samples!

Make Up For Ever, Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

This foundation is one of the most well-known in the industry, so I was pretty excited to try it out for myself without having to purchase the full size. Full coverage foundations aren’t really my favorite, so I tend to lean toward BB creams and tinted moisturizers instead. This formula felt heavy and settled into the fine lines on my skin, so I think I’ll continue to stick with my BB cream going forward.

INSPR, Duo Brow Powder in Dark Brown

When they say blendable and buildable, they mean it! These two brow powders can match any brow color with the right blending and mixing. I tend to use a little more of the dark color to fill in the gaps at the tail end of my brows, then I run a brow gel through the hairs to set it and give it that perfect arched look.

Ciate London, Fierce Flicks Eyeliner

I would never turn down a new eyeliner. In fact, my current collection is becoming a bit overwhelming. This liner applied well with a thin tip for a perfect cat eye and dried quickly, then stayed put on my oily lids all night without a single smudge. Well done!

tre’StiQue, Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux

Two words: super pigmented. One swipe of this autumn-esque color left me with perfectly applied vampy lips that didn’t fade all night.

PUR Cosmetics, Dirty Girl Detoxifying Mudd Masque with Pascalite Clay

Salicylic and lauric acids meet Pascalite clay in this heavy duty masque. After application, your face will feel frozen in place, much stronger than any other face masque I’ve used in the past. After about twenty minutes, I washed it off and my face felt tight and clean with no blemishes to speak of. This isn’t one I would use more than once every two weeks and maybe even then just on my chin where I’m prone to breakouts.

This month was a great mix of fall makeup and colors, one of my favorite glam bags thus far!
